The Next Step Program at AUB, a university based academic and career guidance program for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities above the age of seventeen, has an opening for the position of special educator. - Basic Functions:
Next Step Program is seeking a special educator to help adults with intellectual disabilities reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives. The special educator should be able to collaborate with professionals to assess individual needs and strengths, design and deliver instructions tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities and identify as well as implement assistive technologies to enhance learning and promote independence. - Minimum Requirements:
a. MA in psychology or education
b. At least 3 years of teaching experience
d. Motivated to work, organized, creative, and must have a genuine desire to help students succeed and the patience to navigate individual learning paces.
e. Pleasant, engaging empathetic, and open minded.
f. Has a growth mindset and actively seeks opportunities to learn new strategies and stay on best practices in the field.
g. Has strong communication skills and collaborative.
h. Very good knowledge of English and Arabic. French is a plus.
